Today is the day to take myself into the hospital. Really not looking forward to being cleared out, but SB will be about to make me laugh.
Hopefully only be in a few days and then may know a bit more.
oops, fell behind a little.
Had my final Radiotherapy 2 days ago. Maybe I’ve been lucky but I don’t think I’ve had any problems. In fact at the moment everyone in my house is full of cold, except me, I’m the healthiest among them.
Just starting to pack my bag for my hospital stay on Monday, really looking forward for my laxative treat, NOT.
Things to sort out today. Docs appointment etc, so couldn’t get into work (won’t be back until after operation.
Went for my 4th RT session this afternoon, this one didn’t have the CT scan as part of it so was over in no time, no aching shoulders.
Still feeling ok, although can’t say the same for that in the toilet bowl!!!!!
Full day of hospitals tomorrow. .
At work again for 7, appointment for RT is at 1.20 today so leave here at 12.30. Still feeling fine in myself.
Well just the same again as the previous two., no problems other than the awkward position I need to lie in.
Only two more sessions and then on to the op. Need to sort a few things out at the hospitals pre op assessment etc. So have left work now until after the op and when I feel better.
Oh and I tidied my desk just a bit.
Still at work, in there for 7am and leaving at 2 to go to hospital. Must say my employers and work colleagues are excellent. Had my 2nd session. Very similar to first, didn’t realise but they give a CT scan before each of the first few sessions, so had to lie still for quite a while, wish I had nice strong shoulders, so wouldn’t shake as much when being nuked. All in all, still feeling fine.
Just returned from my first RT session, nothing to worry about here. When I arrived at the department a nurse explained exactly what was going to happen and went through the possible side effects. All was OK, so taken into the treatment room, where I needed to strip down to shirt and boxers.
Another room with some impressive kit (the geek coming out in me). I was laid on a table that seem to move in any direction they wanted it to. The 2 ladies that were assigned to fondle my bottom were frantically taking measurements and then they magically swivelled the table around so I was taken into another CT scan machine. Once scanned again, swivel back to original position and more measurements and readings taken. When the ladies were happy the treatment began.
Didn’t feel a thing, only thing you will notice is that a big machine that is above your head will rotate and make noises.
Now, the hardest thing to do through all of this I found, was that I needed to lie on my tummy with my chin resting on my hands, this position is quite comfortable for the first few minutes, but shoulders start to ache etc. and you have been asked to lie completely still, as they are shooting radiation into your innards.
I’m pretty sure I was lying reasonably still, but it did feel I was having convulsions and nervous twitches, but hey ho, I’ve been nuked anyway!!
Again loads of thanks and love to my better half SB who supported me through this again (and then took me to Asda to by Johnson baby bath).
Went to the Horse Racing Yesterday with a bunch of lads. Excellent group of people who showed loads of concern, but were also able to have a laugh about what was going on.
Still just as lucky as normal, had one winner, so done better than some but still not able to retire.
Well, been out looking for trousers that will fit under my bag and not make me look like a would be rapper. Sticking with lounging pants until after the op and know where final stoma will be. Changed my bag for the first time, oh dear my foam pretend stoma has fell off. Well, day out with a bus full of men tomorrow at the horse races, do I mention my bag??
